You know the situations of her past, why she left, what the situation with her parents is (for the most part), and that her dad is willing to hire a nasty piece of work called Phantom Lord to get her back. She has some family troubles–don’t we all?–but you know more about hers than about the others. But there’s more to why she’s important, strong, and still the main lead. And sure she has to get her ass saved by Natsu–but they had to establish that he was more of a recurring and important character, too, and that was the best way to do it. The beginning is where it’s most obvious, because it starts centered around her, especially if you read the manga. “Lucy’s not the main character, though!" I can hear some people protesting. In fact, in my personal opinion, he is second ONLY to Lucy. That’s all well and good, because people can think what they like, and there’s no doubt that he is one of the main characters. But now, I’m willing to bet that 75% of the fanbase thinks Natsu Dragneel is the main character, and think that he has been since the very beginning. ![]() She was the focus in the first several episodes, as she was getting used to the crazy antics of the guild she’d joined. When Fairy Tail began, Lucy was clearly the main character. Lucy is one of the strongest people in the entire Fairy Tail series, and the most important.
